This cartoon is what started it all. On a hot summer night in Baton Rouge, Louisiana I came up with the concept for a zine called FLARP. I made about 20 of them and gave them to my friends. I also left a few at the coffee shop by my apartment. People liked FLARP, so I made more. While I dabbled in doing stand-up comedy at open mics, the thing I really liked to do was drawing these comic zines. I moved to Chicago a few months later. I got a job as a bartender at Lakeshore Theater and kept making FLARP. I would occasionally ask comedians if they would like to contribute a cartoon. After a while I was getting cartoons from comedians faster than I could make new issues of FLARP, so I decided to compile them into a book. That book being Comics' Comics.
